PSOJ welcomes bipartisan talks on national anti-crime strategy
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), today, expressed its satisfaction with the Government’s “bipartisan and multi sector approach to tackle the critical matter of crime and violence”.
PSOJ has been advocating for a national consensus to be developed involving the Government of Jamaica, Opposition and Civil Society.
The organisation’s statement comes after yesterday’s announcement in Parliament that Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Leader of the Opposition Peter Phillips have begun discussions on cooperation a national anti-crime strategy.
Holness said he and the Phillips had been facilitated by a civil society group, which he did not name, to start work towards the agreement.
The PSOJ said it is optimistic and hopeful that the summit will lead to an agreement and provide practical solutions for Jamaica’s crime strategy that will resonate with all Jamaicans.
