The registration deadline for the 2019 ICWI/Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run 5k has been extended to Thursday, October 24 ahead of the road race on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Emancipation Park in Kingston.

The fundraising road race in aid of persons diagnosed with breast cancer who are unable to afford treatment will also facilitate online registration via www.runningeventsja.com through to Saturday, October 26 at 9:00 am.

Chairman of Jamaica Reach to Recovery, Carolind Graham said “While the uptake has been good, we are trying to facilitate groups and individuals that have expressed serious interest but for various reasons they have been delayed.”

Registration outlets remain the same. They are Toyota Jamaica on Old Hope Road in Kingston as well as ICWI branches in Kingston, Ocho Rios, Old Harbour, Montego Bay, Mandeville, Brown’s Town, Falmouth, Lucea, Savanna-la-mar, Spanish Town and Portmore. Entry cost per person is $1,500 and $1,200 each for groups of 50 or more. There is also a special $1,000 rate for students.

Mrs Graham is also soliciting the support of Jamaicans in the form of donations. “We are truly grateful for the support from our sponsors and supporters. However, the needs of breast cancer patients are great, so more support is always welcome. Monetary donations are accepted through Jamaica Reach to Recovery’s chequing account [371882545] with National Commercial Bank (NCB) Matilda’s Corner,” she shared.

The event’s planning committee is also trying to raise funds through Pink Run merchandise such as tutus and tall socks in keeping with the road race’s theme “Tutus and Tall Socks, The Colour Edition 2”. Other items available for sale at Toyota Jamaica on Old Hope Road are shirts, bottles, pop sockets, and breast cancer pins, among other trendy paraphernalia.

Individuals and groups are encouraged to showcase their pink creativity with their outfits as there will be prizes for the best-dressed team and individual.

In addition to being the main sponsor of the event for the fifth year, ICWI committed to contributing $1,000 from each new Road Angel insurance policy sold to the Jamaica Cancer Society from October 2018 to October 2019 as a part of their 50th-anniversary celebrations.
