Outstanding Jamaican medics
Members of the surgical team at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston who on Tuesday managed to execute another near miracle by performing a much-needed blood transfusion on an unborn child who, along with the mother, was facing severe complications. Members of the team (from left) are: Dr Marvin Williams (obstetric resident in training); Dr Sonja Gooden-Raynor (obstetric resident in training); Shannon Bowden (nurse); Dr Leroy Campbell (surgeon); Dr Annalisa Miller (anaesthetic resident in training); Dr Rosilee Crooks (anaesthetist); Dr S Griffiths-Anderson (obstetric resident in training); Dr Kelly (surgeon); Dr Claudia Allen-Burton (assistant surgeon); and Melanie Rowe-Smith (scrub nurse). The procedure was being done for the second time, with the first in 2017. Doctors Campbell and Kelly were part of the first surgical team as well.
