Police seize two firearms in Kingston, Westmoreland
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police, yesterday, seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition in two separate incidents in Kingston and Westmoreland.
According to the police, in the first instance lawmen from were responding to a case of robbery about 12:40 pm in the National Heroes Circle area.
Upon their arrival, the officers reportedly observed a man fleeing. The man was pursued and during the chase an object reportedly fell from the fleeing man.
The object turned out to be a Ruger revolver loaded with six rounds of ammunition, the police said. The man escaped.
Meanwhile in Retreat, Westmoreland, a man was taken into custody in connection with the seizure of a 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition.
The police report that about 10:30 pm, a team of officers searched a premises and the firearm, which was loaded with five 9mm rounds of ammunition, was found in a room.
The name of the man taken into custody is being withheld pending further investigation, the police said.
