JC, ‘Charlie’ look to secure quarter-final berths in
Former champions Jamaica College and Charlie Smith will look to confirm their spots in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup quarter-finals when they contest their rescheduled first-leg second-round fixtures against Hydel High and St Jago High, respectively, at Spanish Town Prison Oval today.
The games were pushed back as a result of the inclement weather that eventually led to a waterlogged field at today’s venue last Wednesday.
Charlie Smith and St Jago will continue their fixture which was called off with 12 minutes on the clock to avoid lightning strikes, while the Jamaica College-Hydel game will start afresh.
Both Charlie Smith and Jamaica College registered identical 2-0 scorelines over their respective opponents in the return-leg games that were contested at Stadium East on Saturday.
With the advantage in their favour, both teams are expected to safely navigate their way past their opponents and join what is setting up to be a mouth-watering quarter-final party.
Reigning champions Kingston College (KC) and North Street neighbours St George’s College (STGC), along with Camperdown, Excelsior, Wolmer’s Boys and St Andrew Technical (STATHS), are awaiting their arrival.
