Ardenne Prep make it three wins in a row

Benjamin Rankine scored a brace to help Ardenne prep beat defending champions Wolmer’s Prep 2-1 in the 2019 Jamaica Independent Schools’ Association (JISA)/Tastee Prep Schools Alberga Cup football competition at Wolmer’s last Wednesday.

Rankine netted his two goals in the 12th and 28th minutes, the first one he collected a pass before placing the ball into the far corner of the goal. His second goal came from a free kick from 25 yards out where his right-footer eluded Wolmer’s goalkeeper.

Zion Simms scored Wolmer’s lone goal in the 40th minute after they went into the half-time break trailing 0-2.

The win for Ardenne was their third from three starts for nine points in Zone Four. Wolmer’s also have nine points, but from four matches.

Rankine also scored a hat-trick in his team’s 5-2 win against St John The Baptist at Ardenne last Saturday. Ardenne also trounced Black River 5-0.

Today, Wolmer’s will play Hydel at Wolmer’s at 2:30 pm, while Ardenne take on Glenmuir Prep at Emmanuel Christian Academy playing field.

Meanwhile, last year’s beaten finalist Emmanuel Christian Academy chalked up their fourth-straight win with a 5-0 drubbing of St Jago at their home field last Wednesday.

Meyer Duncanson in the second and eighth minutes, Skyler McFarlane in the 12th minute, Rylan Thompson in the 22nd (penalty), and Josiah Scott in the 57th minute were on target for the victors, who led 4-0 at half-time.
