Prime Minister Holness sells Jamaica to investors
Prime
Minister Andrew Holness is appealing to regional and international investors to
bring their capital to Jamaica.
Speaking on the opening day of the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations (CHICOS) Summit at Secrets Wild Orchard and St James Resorts in Montego Bay on Thursday (Nov 14), Holness said that the current business climate in Jamaica makes it the best choice for businesses.
Among
the factors he noted are the ease of doing business and being a model for
public-private partnership (PPP) investment, which has resulted in Jamaica
being ranked second in the 2019 Infrascope PPP Programme Index for Latin
America and the Caribbean.
Holness also highlighted the foreign direct investments of US$196 million and the creations of 29,900 news jobs in the fiscal year 2018/2019 as reasons for Jamaica being a choice destination for investors.
He
said, “Jamaica’s achievements are being recognised on the world stage. We know
that we live in a global economy and we strive to be recognised not only as the
best in the Caribbean but as the best in the world.”
