Karisma Hotels looks to provide 4,800 rooms, 8,000 jobs with new development
Karisma Hotels and Resorts will add another 4,800 rooms to the Jamaican hotel landscape with the building of the US$1 billion Sugarcane Bay multi-resort in Llandovery, St Ann.
The development will start next year.
Speaking
at the cocktail reception for the ninth Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference
and Operations Summit (CHICOS) at Secrets Resort in Montego Bay, vice president
of Karisma, Ruben Becerra, said the new development will be a part of Karisma
commitment to Jamaica.
Becerra said: “We are set to break ground in the first quarter of 2020 to improve on our room count in Jamaica. We already have a presence in Negril with two other properties, and we are ready to move on to our biggest project yet in Jamaica.”
According
to Becerra, the new investment will create approximately 8,000 new jobs with
another 5,000 people also benefitting indirectly.
