National Journalism Week opens

The journalists’ lobby organisation worshipped at the church to mark the start of National Journalism Week which is being observed under the theme: ‘Advancing Democracy — Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’. This evening the PAJ will host a forum on the topic ‘Is the news too negative?’ at Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
Tomorrow, the association will explore the same topic with journalism students at Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville. On Wednesday morning a similar forum will be held at The University of the West Indies Western Jamaica Campus, while later that day veteran journalists will be hounoured at a luncheon at the Courtyard Marriott in New Kingston. The week will climax on Saturday with the National Journalism Awards at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
