Like UWI, UTech gets donation from Holness and JLP
Although
there were cries of bias recently, the University of Technology (UTech), like
the University of the West Indies (UWI), has received a grant from the Jamaica
Labour Party Education Fund and the Positive Jamaica Foundation.
Prime Minister
Andrew Holness made the $2.5 million donation to Professor Stephen Vascciane on
Friday to assist needy students at the school.
However,
prior to the presentation, many Utech students bashed the Prime Minister on
Thursday after he made a $1.5 million donation to UWI, claiming that they feel
as if they were being left out of the equation.
Luckily, their
gift came a day later.

Following
the presentation at UTech, Holness made a post on Twitter, saying: “Education
holds a key position in the philosophy of the Jamaica Labour Party, and this is
why we established the Education Fund as a way of advancing the educational
aspirations of young Jamaicans.”
