The nation’s health
Dear Editor,
Recent news that mosquito vector controllers had been stoned means that people are so unaccustomed to seeing mosquito vector controllers and do not know what they are about. Such is the sorry state of our education.
Some years ago I wrote that we have allowed the lowly mosquito to bring the nation to its knees. The nation is now prostrate.
Not long ago a resident of Seaview Gardens warned that the mosquitos would not be confined to that area as they would be airborne to upper St Andrew as well.
When our nation bankrupt itself with imported goods, we went to the Intenational Monetary Fund (IMF) for help and its terms of offering help were that Government must reduce its spending and, in so doing, we destroyed the essentials of the nation’s well-being, such as the closure of the Public Works Department and poorly managed the cleaning of drains and repairing potholes in the roadway.
We must reconstitute the Public Works Department and all the agencies that protect the health of Jamaica.
