Speedy Patriarch makes his return

Friday racing returns to Caymanas Park today with the $1-million non-restricted Overnight Allowance event going over five furlongs (1,000m) on the straight course being the day’s highlighter.

The three-year-old and upward event has attracted 10 runners and sees the return of the speedy Patriarch, from the red hot barn of leading trainer Anthony Nunes.

The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at each runner and their chances of winning.

CORAZON: (3-y-o b f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – My Heartbeat) – Slowly but surely Corazon is finding her form and should not be troubled by the five-straight. Corazon is expected to run a good race despite the inadequacy of the one draw.

MSMYRTLERICHIEGIRL: (4-y-o b f – Msmyrtleboyrichie – Allthebest) – Has done well to reach this level. Msmyrtlerichiegirl comes into this race after back-to-back wins and even though she is on top of her game, the asking here is a tall order.

PRINCE CHARLES: (3-y-o ch g – Mine Over Matter – She’s Spectacular) – After two dominant wins including an impressive 1:18.4 over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) to win the Supreme Ventures Diamond Sprint on November 8, Prince Charles, although stepping up is still comfortable and should make his presence felt.

SIR JHUNJHUN WALA: (4-y-o ch g – Rising Moon – Niphal) – Seems to be struggling with no hope of winning.

PATRIARCH: (4-y-o b c – Casual Trick – Electrifying) – Speedy and consistent runner who steps down to have a crack at these. Patriarch is the class horse in the race and with his known speed could set off in front and win from there. Patriarch gets the services of the in-form rider Dane Nelson and is going to be hard to beat.

K D FLYER: (5-y-o dkb h – Silent Valor – Dixie Flyer) – Loves the straight but based on current form, K D Flyer cannot be recommended.

ANASO: (4-y-obg – Distorted – Slim Ting) – Running some inferior races and that form should continue. Anaso with the blinkers off and the visor on.

SERGEANT RECKLESS: (4-y-o – Storm Craft – Code Star) – Not doing poorly in her recent races. Sergeant Reckless, despite her ninth place behind Bruce Wayne on last over 6 ½ furlongs but should run a much better race over the straight.

CAMPESINO: (9-y-o b g – Compadre – Yaella) – Getting up in age and is not going to have the spunk for this one.

AMERICAN INVADER: (3-y-o ch f – Biondetti – Blugrass) – Consistent American-bred runner who is in good form. American Invader was a winner over this distance on October 12 in a quick 58.1 seconds. If she can reproduce that effort, she can win here.
