MONTEGO BAY, St James — Double defending champions Herbert Morrison Technical will be seeking to extend their unbeaten records in both sections of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Western Conference boys basketball competition today when they take on Irwin High in a double-header at Montego Bay Boys Club, starting at 1:30 pm.

Herbert Morrison, who won the previous five titles in both competitions, have had their way against all their opponents so far, and are expected to continue when they take on the Irwin teams that are returning to the competition after long breaks.

The Herbert Morrison Under-19 team has won their first five games while the Under-16 team has won their first four games and are coming off easy wins over Holland High last week.

Also today Muschett High will be seeking back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they host winless Frome Technical in Wakefield, Trelawny.

On Monday, York Castle High ended a losing skid in the Under-19 while making it two wins in a row in the Under-16 with victories over a slumping William Knibb Memorial.

Under-16 leaders Holland High and Cornwall College shared their double-header played at Holland.

After winning their first three games, William Knibb have lost their last three games in the Under-19 section, including Monday’s 60-47 result to York Castle, who were led by a game-high 21 points from Umar Dixon.

The visitors led at the end of each quarter — 16-11 at the first, 31-23 at half-time, and 43-38 after the third.

Ihejah Clarke scored 18 points and Lennon Richards contributed 11 points for York Castle, as only Phillip Hodges scored in double-digits with 10 points, while Rhodane Ashman got 15 rebounds.

Three players scored in double-digits for York Castle in the Under-16 game, led by Maurice Vassell’s game-high 24 points along with eight blocked shots and seven rebounds. Ricky Richards scored 12 points and A-Jon Brown scored 10 points.

Jerdaine Francis led William Knibb with 19 points and Dudley Clarke had 10 rebounds.

At Holland High, the home team took the Under-16 game 64-53, rebounding from their first loss of the season, but visitors Cornwall College won the Under-19 game 72-36 for their fourth-straight victory despite a triple-double from Diontae McBean.

Holland High led by two points (12-10) after the first quarter in the Under-16 game against Cornwall College and extended their advantage to 14 points (36-22) at the half-time break before the visitors rallied to trim the deficit to six points (48-42) going into the final period.

Tyrese Williams had a double-double of 12 points and 20 rebounds, Flawless Travers scored 35 points, and Ray-Jay Dixon had 14 rebounds to lead Holland High to their fifth win.

McBean scored 10 points, had 19 rebounds and 11 blocked shots for Cornwall, while Shemar Martin scored 14 points, and Ryan Watson had 15 rebounds.

In the senior game, Cornwall College had four players with double-doubles as they dominated the home team, leading 16-10 after the first quarter, 42-18 at half-time, and 54-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Romario Senior scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds for Cornwall College, Kenrick Brown scored 15 points and had 10 steals, Omar Campbell scored 12 points and had 18 rebounds, Rushane Francis scored 11 points and had 10 steals, while Jaden Stoddart scored 10 points for the winners.

Rhajaun Williams scored 18 points for Holland High, and Mario Brown had 14 points.
