Sprint hurdler Megan Simmonds-Tapper joins the list of athletes to have walked away from the powerful MVP Track and Field Club in recent times while Keleise Spencer-Carter has made a sensational return in an effort to reignite her faltering career.

The 25-year-old Tapper joins Jaheel Hyde, Jevaughn Minzie, Shimayra Williams and Soniqua Walker, who have left the club in recent times. Tapper achieved her lifetime best of 12.61 seconds while competing at the World Championship in Doha, in Qatar, in October where she reached the final. However, after hitting the first hurdle, she failed to complete the race and was devastated as she left the venue in tears.

It is unclear where she will train for the upcoming season leading into the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

Meanwhile, Kaliese Spencer-Carter is back after leaving the club in 2015 after stating that she felt like “an outcast”.

Spencer-Carter is the 2014 Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles champion and two-time IAAF World Indoor silver medallist. She was also fourth at the 2009 and 2011 World Championship and is one of the most successful athletes in the history of the IAAF Diamond League.

MVP is the most successful athletics club in Jamaica and arguably the world. Currently headed by Stephen Francis, his brother Paul Francis and Bruce James, MVP has produced 50 medals for Jamaica including 33 gold since its inception in 1999.
