The clash of former champions Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse FC will be the marquee match-up Wednesday (Dec 11) as Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) midweek action resumes with six games to be played on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, champions

Portmore United welcome Cavalier to the Spanish Town Prison Oval for a 3:00 pm

match and Humble Lion tackle the University of the West Indies (UWI) at

Effortville in Clarendon at 5:00 pm.

Waterhouse v Arnett Gardens

Back to Wednesday and although it’s not quite the top-of-the-table clash the feature game pits leaders Waterhouse on 33 points against third-placed Arnett Gardens on 26 points in a fascinating contest at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex starting at 8:00 pm. Waterhouse who have a game in hand against Tivoli Gardens will be hoping to widen their lead at the top while Arnett Gardens, who are seven points adrift on 26 points will be aiming to close the gap while consolidating their playoff spot.

Waterhouse have won their last three encounters against Arnett Gardens and should enter the contest full of confidence but will have to work hard as Arnett Gardens seemed to have found another gear and are playing at a pace that will unsettle any team at the moment.

Molynes United v Tivoli Gardens

Another interesting matchup will feature two struggling teams heading in opposite directions. One is Molynes United, which are falling down the table rapidly while the other is Tivoli Gardens, climbing out of the relegation zone and up the table. Molynes United’s story is well told as they won their first six games then lost eight of their last 10 games and have plummeted from the top spot to eighth with 20 points. Tivoli Gardens who won two of their last three games are 10th with 15 points and will be looking to leapfrog Molynes United in their quest for playoff football.

Mount Pleasant v Dunbeholden

At Drax Hall in St Ann, the home team Mount Pleasant, who are at the second spot on 28 points, take on sixth-placed Dunbeholden who are on 21 points. Mount Pleasant, having won three of their last five games, are coming off a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Waterhouse and will be looking to continue their dominance over a Dunbeholden team they defeat the last three times they met. It should be a hard, bruising game which Mount Pleasant should win.

Vere United v Harbour View

In the fourth game on Wednesday, bottom-placed Vere United must start a winning run against Harbour View or the reality of relegation will draw nearer. Vere are on 13 points with just two wins from 16 games but have drawn their last two games against the UWI and Arnett Gardens and seemed to be improving. Harbour View are in ninth on 20 points and eyeing a top-six playoff spot, hence a victory against the cellar team must be of paramount importance and they should win especially playing at home.

Portmore United v Cavalier

On Thursday, champions Portmore United sitting in the seventh spot on 21 points, will continue their surge to a playoff and one of the teams standing in their way is fifth-placed Cavalier on 22 points. Portmore United have won three of their last five games while Cavalier have won two of their last five.

Humble Lion v UWI

Fourth-placed Humble Lion on 23 points take on 11th-placed UWI on 14 points as they try to stay in touch with the leaders while consolidating their playoff position. UWI with just two victories under the belt all season, will find Humble Lion a tough nut to crack and should suffer their seventh loss of the campaign and stay in the relegation zone.
