Glamcon’s Festive Beauty Trends

With Jamaica’s most prominent beauty experts and two popular overseas make-up artists under one roof at the Glamcon Beauty Expo and Conference, held last Saturday at the Worthington, Spanish Court Hotel, your Under The Dryer (UTD) team took full advantage of discovering the latest beauty trends emerging for the festive season. Here’s what we learnt from make-up pro Kai Forde.

Black Radiance is distributed by Kaelyn’s Distributors Ltd and is available at most major beauty supplies stores and pharmacies islandwide. You can contact Kai Forde by visiting her Instagram page @simplii_beautifulll

1 . What’s the top make-up trend for the festive season?

Coloured eyeliner (metallics or neons) and wispy lashes.

2. Share a beauty tip that guarantees a flawless face for holiday parties and events.

Using a flat-top brush or a Real Techniques Expert Buffing Brush (to apply foundation).

3. What are three make-up items you could not live without?

Concealer, bronzer and lashes.

4. What’s your go-to make-up brand?

I don’t have a preference. Each brand has a product that is unique whether it is an eyeliner, bronzer or a foundation.

5. What is one beauty tool that you would recommend?

The Beauty Blender make-up sponge.

6. Describe your everyday make-up look.

Natural dewy skin is my go-to.

7. What is the most common make-up faux pas?

Using too much foundation and concealer that doesn’t complement the complexion.

TIP: For the undereyes Kai mixes different shades of concealers to better match the various tones on the face.

8. How important is skincare in your make-up routine?

Make-up needs a good base and breathing ground for it to set properly whether you have perfect skin or not. Taking care of your skin every day, and using the right products will give you desirable make-up results. The Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash is a product I swear by and would recommend to everyone.

9. What’s the one must-have beauty product for the festive season?

Black Radiance Dewy Setting Spray

10. Typical glitter smokey eye for New Year’s Eve looks or are you switching it up?

I’m thinking about switching it up a bit. I’ve noticed that miniature sized gems are trending so I don’t mind giving that a try.

STEP 1Before applying eyeshadow, make-up artist Kai Forde creates a flawless basewith a Black Radiance concealer.
STEP 2Blend an eyeshadow a shade or two darker than your skin tone into the crease beforeapplying darker colours. This transition shade tip is why you see those beautiful gradientsthat make-up artists are so worshipped for!
STEP 3Shimmery gold eyeshadow from the Black Radiance Eye AppealShadow Palette adds the glam effect to a brown smokey eye.
STEP 4A secret trick for looking majorly glam is popping on a pair ofdramatic lashes.
STEP 5Black Kohl liner is added to the waterline for a dramatic effect.
STEP 6Contour shade from the Black Radiance True Complexion Contourpalette used to deepen the cheeks
STEP 7A lip gloss that offers gorgeous shimmer and high shine is added to the lips.
