Two new COVID-19 cases in Jamaica after first day without positive test
Jamaica returned two positive tests of the coronavirus (COVID-19) yesterday, May 15, following its first day in almost two months of
The country’s total number of confirmed
cases now stands at 511m according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Recoveries in the nation also continue
to increase as three more patients were cleared of the virus and released from
isolation, bringing the total to 121.
Of the two new cases, one is a female
from the workplace cluster in St Catherine, which has now recorded 225
confirmed cases.

Nine people have died from the virus
locally, with some 381 active cases remaining. None of the active cases are
said to be moderately or critically ill.
There are 420 patients in isolation,
while 317 persons of interest are in quarantine at a government facility.
Health departments across the island are actively tracing 1,405 close contacts
of confirmed cases.
Just under 8,000 coronavirus tests have
been conducted on the islands, with the results of 60 samples pending.
