Peter Phillips pays tribute to Prof Edwin Jones
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr Peter Phillips, Member of Parliament for East Central St Andrew and former Opposition Leader says he is saddened by news of the sudden passing of long-time friend and colleague Professor Edwin Jones.
“Professor Jones was an insightful scholar and public servant who made a major contribution to the development of public administration in modern Jamaica,” Dr Phillips said.
Prof Jones was an erstwhile Chairman of the Public Service Commission and Professor of Public Administration UWI. He also served on several public boards and as special adviser in the Office of the Prime Minister between 1993 and 2001.
“As an outstanding Jamaican and an educator of very high standard, Prof Jones served faithfully and with distinction in both academia and the public sector. He will be missed,” Dr Phillips added.
Dr Phillips offered his condolences to Dr Jones’ family and colleagues.
