Sandals celebrates women
For the change-makersGeneral manager for Sandals Negril David Latchimy (second left) and Beaches Negril General Manager Christopher Elliot (second right) came bearing gifts and kind words for these female change-makers as part of the resorts’ International Women’s Day Community Appreciation Initiative. The women (from left) Violet Houde, Jean Brown and Gloria Gilpin were among a group of women honoured because of their invaluable contribution to either volunteerism, education, community development, environmental preservation or social work.
Surprise!Community health aide at the Savanna-la-Mar Health Centre Angela Thorbourne (right) collects her certificate and basket of goodies from regional public relations manager for Sandals and Beaches Negril Jervene Simpson, who stopped by her job to surprise her with the gift. Thorbourne was selected as one of the women the resorts honoured for International Women’s Day because of her sterling contribution in the area of health care and community service.
Let the celebration beginSandals South Coast kicked off its month-long celebration of women by recognising female managers who make up more than 70 per cent of the luxury resort’s management team. Among those recognised were members of the Food and Beverage team (from left) Executive Pastry Chef Alecia Wray; Food and Beverage Manager Suzette Bailey-Anderson; and Executive Sous-Chef Rochelle Grindley.
The resort will continue to celebrate its women with other planned activities throughout the month.
