Second shipment of COVID vaccines delayed — Tufton
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The 14,400 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine which Jamaica has procured under the COVAX Facility, will not arrive today as scheduled.
Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton announced on Nationwide Radio a short while ago that logistics issues have delayed the shipment of vaccine, which is coming from Germany.
According to Tufton, the vaccine is now scheduled to arrive on the Island on Monday, March 15.
The Ministry of Health started the roll out of its vaccination program yesterday, with approximately 2,600 health care workers and members of the vulnerable community receiving the jab.
The program is expected to move in a higher gear, with thousands of people to be vaccinated today.
