SCOOBERT SCOOTS HOME
Scoobert , who has been struggling in recent times, finally came good with a winning run after brushing aside rivals in a native-bred five-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance V (non-winners of two) event at six furlongs (1,200m).
With Shane Ellis in the saddle for trainer Dennis Pryce, Scoobert ( Nuclear Wayne – Miracle Doctor) got a good break at the off, surrounded runners approaching the half mile (800m) and began to increase his lead with every stride.
Turning for home, Scoobert cruised home to win by 2 ½ lengths ahead of the fast-finishing Adwa under apprentice Nicholas Hibbert.
Nez Perce, ridden by Tevin Foster, finished third. The final time was recoded at 1:16.2.
K D ROCKET GOES ONE BETTER
FALLING by a head to Puskas going five furlongs straight on March 6, K D Rocket returned a furlong shorter at four furlongs (800m) and went one better in the Restricted Allowance V event for four-year-olds and upwards.
The Gary Subratie trainee in the hands of Dane Dawkins was away in good order at the start, matching strides with Boasy N Flashy (Roger Hewitt) for the first half of the race.
Coming across the dummy rails, Dawkins straightened K D Rocket and the four-year-old bay gelding sprinted clear of Boasy N Flashy to win by 4 ½ lengths in a time of 46.0 seconds.
Another Prosecutor, the mount of Christopher Mamdeen who was prominent throughout, held her gallop to finish third.
FOREIGNER NO WORK PERMIT A WINNER ON LOCAL SOIL
FOUR-YEAR-OLD bay American-bred filly No Work Permit notched her first win on local soil after romping a four-year-old and upwards Restricted Allowance V contest travelling 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m).
Unable to go with the early pace, the Patrick Lynch-trained No Work Permit was held off the headlines by jockey Tevin Foster among the backmarkers. Sheboom (Delroy Beharie) set the early fractions ahead of Strike At Will (Samantha Fletcher) and D’s Choice (Trevor Simpson) down the backstretch.
As soon as Strike At Will took over from Sheboom, No Work Permit glided into third place at the half mile before surging to the front at the top of the straight. No Work Permit drew off to win by 2 ½ lengths.
My Time Now (Anthony Thomas) was second and SenCity (Dane Nelson) third. The final time was 1:36.2.
DADDY JONES IMPRESSIVE IN MAIDEN WIN
DADDY Jones, a three-year-old grey colt bred by American Dance – Mete-Orite , making him a half-brother to the talented Mahogany , showed some signs of ability when releasing the maiden tag over one mile (1,600m).
Trained by Richard Azan and ridden by Omar Walker, Daddy Jones slammed rivals by 8 ½ lengths in a time of 1:44.3.
Settled in mid-pack down the backstretch behind the speedy Oldkingcole (Dane Nelson) and Hijo Primero (Richard Henry), Daddy Jones made his move while navigating the half mile turn when he joined Oldkingcole on the front end.
Daddy Jones took over at the top of the lane and powered home effortlessly. Curlin’s Kawartha (Christopher Mamdeen) finished second with Oldkingcole filling the third slot.
