Jamaica has 13 COVID deaths, 821 new cases
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A record 13 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths has brought Jamaica’s virus death toll to 507.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 821 new cases of the virus bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 32,728.
Seven of the 13 deaths were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew and included five women- ages 46, 56, 73, 61 and 79 and two men, ages 86 and 50. The others deaths were a 78-year-old man and a 62-year-old, both from St Elizabeth, two women, ages 81 and 59, and a 71-year-old man all from St Thomas, as well as a 26-year-old woman from St Catherine.
Of the 821 newly confirmed cases, the ministry noted that 477 were females and 344 were males with ages ranging from one day to 95 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (226), St Catherine (195), St Thomas (92), Manchester (48), Clarendon (41), St Mary, Portland (39 each), St Elizabeth, St James (33 each), St Ann (31), Westmoreland (22), Hanover (16) and Trelawny (six).
The country also recorded 102 recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,473.
