St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre inmate dies following COVID-19 diagnosis
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) says an inmate from the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre has died from complications associated with COVID-19.
The inmate died on Monday at Spanish Town Hospital.
In light of this development, the DCS said it will now conduct a series of contact tracing and testing will be done for high-risk contacts.
The DCS expressed condolences to the family and friends of the inmate.
Meanwhile, the DCS confirmed that a correctional officer is now hospitalised and an inmate from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, who was hospitalised, has been discharged.
The Department of Correctional Services has now lost three officers and two inmates due to complications related to COVID-19.
