CARIFTA Games: Jamaica’s Peart gets silver in Girls’ U-17 800m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Andrene Peart had to settle for second in the Girls’ Under-17 800 metre behind Michelle Smith of the US Virgin Islands, who has shown good form at the 49th Carifta Games at the National Stadium.
Peart, who left it late, stopped the clock in 2:13.07, some ways behind Smith, who romped the event in a new personal best 2:10.78.
Guyana’s Attoya Harvey was third, also in a new personal best of 2:14.08.
Smith earlier won silver in the 100m hurdles and also won the 400m hurdles on Saturday’s second day of action.
