Jamaica reports 48 new COVID cases, two deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Friday reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases reported on the island to 129,489.
The country also reported two more virus-related deaths, bringing the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 2,943.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 34 females and 14 males with ages ranging from one day to 108 years.
The cases were recorded in Clarendon (one), Hanover (one), Kingston and St Andrew (10), St Ann (nine), St Catherine (eight), St James (13), Westmoreland (one), St Mary (two) and Trelawny (three).
Meanwhile, the latest victims are:
An 84-year-old male from St James who died in April 2021.
A 94-year-old female from Westmoreland who died in July 2021.
The country also recorded 90 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 82,965.
The positivity rate was 4.3 per cent in the latest round of testing.
