Lazah Current calls for peace
Canada-based reggae singer Lazah Current is preparing for the release of World Peace.
The Kingston-born artiste — who currently resides in Toronto, Canada — says the song was inspired by the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
“I find it hard to believe that we’re just recovering from a global pandemic and there’s a war going on between Russia and Ukraine. This is madness and it could lead to another world war. The leaders of the world need to do everything they can to bring this war to an end. We don’t need no more wars; what we need is peace, love, and harmony. We need a world devoid of war and violence,” said Lazah Current.
Self-produced by Lazah Current for his Lazah Records imprint, World Peace is slated to be released before the end of this month. It will also be featured on his upcoming album, Power of the People, which he plans to release later this year.
“At the moment, I’m working with the Warrior Love band to complete my fourth album. I’ve recorded most of the songs already; we just have a few more to go. It’s going to be an awesome project,” he said.
Lazah Current (given name Hal Duggan) is the former lead singer of the JUNO Award-winning reggae band Messenjah. He is known for songs including Power To The People featuring Luciano, Betta Tomorrow, Lately, and Hey Girl.
