Truck breaks down causing traffic pile-up in Ocho Rios
ST ANN, Jamaica – There is a heavy build-up of traffic in Ocho Rios, St Ann, as a truck has broken down on the main road in front of Dolphin’s Cove.
Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, the commanding officer for St Ann, says the truck, which was carrying marl, broke down in the middle of the road, forcing traffic to a snarl.
“We are trying to see if we can get a heavy-duty wrecker to move it,” SSP Powell told OBSERVER ONLINE.
He said police personnel are on the scene trying to direct traffic and have things moving as best as possible until the truck can be removed.
Already several messages have been posted on social media warning motorists to avoid the area, bringing back memories of a recent traffic nightmare in the division.
On April 16, the day after Good Friday, motorists travelling between Ocho Rios and St Ann’s Bay faced traffic delays of up to six hours.
According to reports, several people travelling from Ocho Rios to Montego Bay, St James were either late or missed their flight.
The police had said rain, party events and unruly motorists were behind that traffic nightmare.
