Soca Therapy begins next Saturday
FIVE years ago Soca Therapy was born. Since then, the soca-themed party has blossomed into a must-attend event on the entertainment calendar.
Soca fans are in for a treat when the next staging takes place on Saturday, June 25 on the Kingston waterfront, Ocean Boulevard.
Commissioned to spin the hits are high-riding DJs Kurt Riley, King Taj, DJ Sanjay and DJ Kevy.
“After hosting numerous carnival bands/sections in the annual UWI carnival, our revellers started requesting off-season fetes. We brainstormed for a name that would resonate and the idea of soca as a therapy came about. Shortly after, we held our first staging at the Deck on Trafalgar Road in December 2017,” explained event director Roy Pinnock.
This will be the fourth staging of Soca Therapy. Dubbed the Coolers and Crews edition, the promoters are promising a euphoric experience of good soca music, good vibes and good energy.
“The event is highly anticipated and its perfect timing leading up to Jamaica Carnival’s Road March which is scheduled for early July. Patrons have the opportunity to soak in some soca music as they prepare to hit the road,” Pinnock opined.
He continued, “The event has grown organically, and keeps growing with each staging. We’ve been consistently creating euphoric experiences for all. Nothing beats great music, great vibe for an affordable price.”
The last staging of Soca Therapy took place in November 2019 at the Hope Gardens.
Asked how challenging it was to have brought back the event following a three-year break, the event director stated, “Throughout the pandemic we’ve kept the brand relevant through hybrid events such as virtual parties and small bar pop-ups. Once gates opened, launching the event and gaining visibility wasn’t difficult,” Pinnock added.
