National Trials: Prince wins boys’ long jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica – St Jago’s Demario Prince captured the boys’ long jump title at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships at the National Stadium on Friday.
Prince won with a leap of 7.30m ahead of his teammate Balvin Israel with 7.01m.
Nathan Wade, formerly of Calabar High and now at Kingston College, was third with 7.00m.
In the men’s high jump, Lushane Wilson of GC Foster won with 2.18m on the count back ahead of Romaine Beckford of the University of South Florida, also with 2.18m. However, both are still below the qualifying mark for the World Championships which is 2.33m. The mark for the Commonwealth Games is 2.27m.
