Kensington battle champions St Mary in JCA 50-over semis
KENSINGTON CC are set to take on champions St Mary CA and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) are to face Kingston CC to decide the finalists of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) 50-over competition.
The Kensington versus St Mary semi-final clash is to be staged at Kensington Park in east Kingston while the JDF soldiers are booked to host Kingston at the Up Park Camp cricket field.
Both matches are scheduled to start 9:30 am today.
St Mary, which has the competition’s top run scorer in Alwyn Williams, reached the last-four stage after beating hosts St Elizabeth CA by five wickets in last Saturday’s quarter-final match at Manley Horne Park.
Tyrone Daley stood out for St Mary, claiming 3-15 to help dismiss St Elizabeth for 179 and then returning to make an unbeaten 59 in the 181-5 his team made in the run chase.
In their quarter-final contest, Kensington CC easily beat visitors Westmoreland CA by eight wickets at Kensington Park after Ryan Francis hit 119 not out for the hosts in their 233-2 in response to 231 all out.
At Port Esquivel, Kingston had beaten hosts Clarendon CA by 117 runs after West Indies white-ball batsman Brandon King smashed 121 for the visitors in their 279-7. Clarendon could only manage 162 in reply.
In the other quarter-final encounter at Up Park Camp, home team Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) had defeated St Thomas CA by six wickets after the visitors posted a meagre 111. The JDF reply was a brisk 116-4.
