She’s My Destiny all the way
SHE’S My Destiny, after some exciting spins at exercise, is expected to return on a winning note in the top-rated, $1.1-million Restricted Overnight Allowance event on the nine-race card at Caymanas Park today.
Having not raced since placing fourth behind Dejae’s Boy, I’ve Got Magic and Money Monster in the Ash Wednesday Trophy on March 2, She’s My Destiny has been blazing in the mornings to show her readiness for competition.
On June 11 She’s My Destiny stopped the clock at 47.3 for four furlongs (800m) on the round course, one week before galloping five and a half furlongs (1,100m) in an impressive 1:05.4, with the last five furlongs (1,000m) done in a superb 59.2.
If those two gallops weren’t enough to suggest that She’s My Destiny should easily put her rivals away today, then her June 25 workout should seal the deal for her. Galloping out of the straight, She’s My Destiny blasted four furlongs in a spectacular 45.2 — completing the full, five-furlong workout in a more inspiring time of 58.0.
She’s My Destiny’s last spin coming into this race was on July 3 when she worked five furlongs on the round course in 1:00.3. Based on those gallops, if all goes well for her then it will be hard to see any one of her rivals denying her a fifth career win. Champion jockey Anthony Thomas rides for current leading trainer Jason DaCosta.
The three-year-old and upward contest will open proceedings at the Park at 12:30 pm.
The Good Witch, trained by Adin Williams and to be ridden by Dick Cardenas, looks the likely choice to follow She’s My Destiny home here.
The five-year-old, American-bred bay mare showed signs of ability when finishing 3½ lengths in third to Lure of Lucy and Rojorn di Pilot last Saturday going six furlongs. With that encouraging run and her well-being exposed, The Good Witch is poised for another good enough.
Raw Liquid, Acero and Alexa’s Lodge can be considered for the minor placings.
Also on tap is the $950,000 John Clifton Memorial Cup — a native-bred, three-year-old maiden condition race going six furlongs.
First-timer runner Tapit Good, bred by Tapiture out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Forty Fifteen, looks a useful sort and could open his account right away. Dane Dawkins will ride for trainer Gary Subratie. Last Bid, Wowtastic and North London are all capable runners that can go home the winner as well.
