All eight countries participating in the Concacaf Women’s Championship in Mexico will observe a moment of silence at games Monday in honour of former Jamaican national Under-15 footballer Jedine Carr, the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has announced.

Carr was among two persons shot dead by gunmen along the Lloydsville main road in Yallahs, St Thomas on Friday. She was reportedly on her way to football training at the time of the incident.

According to a JFF release, Monday’s moment of silence will see players recognising Carr at the start of the matches and there will also be a display on the video boards.

“The JFF thanks Concacaf for understanding the grief Jamaica is feeling and facilitating the moment of recognition,” the release stated.

Jamaica will tackle Haiti at 9pm in a must-win game for the Reggae Girlz to secure a spot at next year’s World Cup.

The other games scheduled are Canada vs Costa Rica and Panama vs Trinidad and Tobago at 6pm; and the US vs Mexico at 9pm.
