#World Champs: Seville only Jamaican through to 100m Finals
EUGENE, Oregon- Oblique Seville displayed a stellar performance in the semi-final of the men’s 100 metres to advance to the final of the event in Eugene, Oregon.
Seville, who has a personal best of 9.86 seconds, made a statement in semi-final three of the event when he blazed to victory in 9.90 seconds ahead of Marvin Bracy of America, who clocked 9.93 seconds for the runner up spot.
Meanwhile, Yohan Blake, who emerged as the fastest Jamaican man over the event this year, lined up in heat one of the event and had to settle for fourth in 10.12 seconds. The race was won by Akani Simbine of South Africa, who recorded a season’s best of 9.97 seconds.
In addition, Ackeem Blake lined up against a stacked field in semi-final two and could only manage a fourth place finish in 10.19 seconds. The American pair of Fred Kerley (10.02) and Christian Coleman (10.05) secured the first and second spot respectively. As a result, Yohan Blake and Ackeem Blake did not advance to the final.
The men’s 100m final will run off later tonight 9:50pm Jamaica time.
