Lovingoldschool scores with Sex Appeal
SEVERAL Jamaican entertainers have enjoyed success in Canada over the years. Names like Kafinal (now known as Jeff Wyle), JUNO-nominated Ammoye, Kirk Diamond, Exco Levi, Blessed and Leroy Sibbles easily come to mind.
Singer and music producer Neville George Gordon, better known in reggae music circles as Lovingoldschool, is hoping to score similar or even greater success. He makes his bid with the Sex Appeal rhythm which was released earlier this year.
The project is the first for his Lovingoldschool Productions label and it features Fake Love by Thriller U and Find Yourself Another Girl (a cover of the Jerry Butler original), which is recorded by Phillip Fraser. Lovingoldschool also appears on the project with the title track.
So far, Thriller U’s Fake Love made it to the Jamaica Music Countdown, peaking at number ten. Fraser’s song is currently number fourteen on the chart.
“I’m overjoyed with all the success that I’m enjoying with this project. This is truly a blessing and I am thankful to everyone who’s supporting the project, both at home and abroad,” said Lovingoldschool in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
The Clarendon-born producer who grew up in St Ann is so upbeat about the success of the project that he has already started working on a follow-up.
“I’m always busy in the studio making music and I have a hot new rhythm project in the pipeline that I plan to release soon. However, before I do that, I am going to release a single for myself titled Digital Girl,” he disclosed.
Lovingoldschool migrated to Canada several years ago. In the 1980s he launched his music career under the tutelage of legendary music producer and sound system operator, Jack Ruby.
