#World Champs: Parchment hurdles to 110m Final
EUGENE, Oregon- Tokyo Olympic champion Hansle Parchment will be the only Jamaican to contest the final of the men’s 110m hurdles in Eugene, Oregon.
Parchment made a statement as he comfortably won semi-final three ahead of the fastest man in the event this year, Devon Allen of America. Parchment clocked 13.02 seconds, while Allen ran 13.09 seconds.
Rasheed Broadbell, who stumbled over several hurdles, held on for the third place spot in semi-final two in a time of 13.27 seconds. However, his time was not fast enough to secure a non-automatic spot for the final of the event.
Meanwhile, Orlando Bennett placed seventh in semi-final one of the event. He crossed the line in a time of 13.67 seconds. As a result, Bennett will not be moving on to the next round. His race was won by Tokyo olympics silver medallist, Grant Holloway of America, who clocked a season’s best of 13.01 seconds.
The eight finalists of the men’s 110 metres hurdles will face the starter later today, July 17 for the final of the event at 9:30pm Jamaica time.
