Two children killed in two-car crash in Old Harbour

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Two children died from crash-related injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident on the Old Harbour main road in St Catherine on Saturday.

One of the children reportedly passed away just two days after celebrating her sixth birthday.

The crash happened at about 5:15 pm in the vicinity of McCook’s Pen.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the two deaths but did not immediately release the names.

Reports are that the incident involved a Toyota Wish, with nine people aboard, and a 2012 Nissan AD Wagon, with two persons aboard.

The cars were reportedly travelling in opposite directions when the driver of the Wish reportedly sought to execute an overtake. Of the 11 people who were involved in the two-vehicle crash, four were children.

Several victims sustained multiple fractures and head injuries during the horrific crash. An adult was transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital, while two of the children were transported to Bustamante Hospital for Children.
