Khago under new management
WITH more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, sound system owner Robert “Dozer” Williams believes he has the skill set required to steer the career of singjay Khago to higher heights.
Williams has taken on the role of manager for the recording artiste who is known for hits such as Nah Sell Out, Tun Up Di Ting, and Caan Cool.
“Well, I see Khago as an artiste with a lot of potential. All he needs is proper management to guide his career path and that’s where I can offer him that service,” said Williams, who is owner of the popular Rebel T sound system.
“I am prepared to sign him for three years, and a flexible clause to extend for a further three years, as first right of a refusal. I will bring a management of flexibility — a service that’s lacking in the music industry now,” he continued.
Khago was just as upbeat about working with Williams.
“Management is a great thing to have, especially if that manager loves music and we both respect each other as humans,” said Khago. “This time I understand the music business a lot more and I just want to give the fans greater music.”
Born Ricardo Gayle, Khago hails from St Ann. He came to prominence in 2006 when he entered the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Festival Song competition with Only If You Know.
His albums Walk a Mile and Dancehall Soca (both released in 2018) made the Billboard Reggae Albums top 10.
