#WorldChamps: Jamaica name teams for relays

EUGENE, Oregon – As expected, all three medallists in the women’s 100 metre have been named to the Jamaican women’s 4x100m team for the final to be run in the evening session on today’s ninth day of the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the 100m champion, Shericka Jackson, the 200m champion, both in Championships record times and 100m bronze medallist Elaine Thompson-Herah, will be joined by 100m semi-finalists Kemba Nelson.

Nelson will replace Briana Williams, who had led off the team that ran a national record 41.02 seconds at last year’s Olympic Games, and also led off the team that won their first round heat on Friday.

The running order will be Nelson, Thompson-Herah, Fraser-Pryce and Jackson.

Meanwhile, men’s 100m finalist Oblique Seville has been brought into the men’s team, replacing Kemar Bailey-Cole, who ran in the preliminaries.

Ackeem Blake will lead off again, handing off to Yohan, to Seville to Jelani Walker on the anchor leg.

The 4x400m relay’s first rounds will also be run today and the men’s team will be Ackeem Bloomfield, Jevaughn Powell, Karayme Bartley and Anthony Cox.

The women’s team will be StaceyAnn Williams, Junelle Broomfield Tiffany James-Rose and Cherokee Young.
