Time to change school uniform from full khaki
Dear Editor,
Ghislaine Maxwell is off to federal prison in the US.
The media report states, “The new facility will require her to wear an authorised prison outfit consisting of khaki pants and shirt or a khaki dress.”
In the interest of building self-esteem, we must look deeply at how we dress our primary schoolchildren for school. This full khaki dress code is a carry-over from class warfare and economic oppression. Truth be told, we do not dress our prep school students in such a manner. It is time for our students to stop wearing full khaki — the prison dress code — to school.
We need to soften their appearance so they look like children.
Maybe khaki shorts/pants will work with a mild-coloured polo top, with the school logo, for primary school.
