Man fatally shot after attempting to kidnap woman in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica— Jermaine Robinson, 27, of Old Greenvale main road in Mandeville, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police at May Day, in Manchester, on Monday, July 25.
Reports are that lawmen responded to a call about the kidnapping of a woman in a Toyota Mark X motor vehicle. When the police arrived on the scene they were greeted with gunfire. The gunfire was returned and one of the three men was fatally shot. His two accomplices escaped on foot. The woman who was being kidnapped was not harmed during the melee.
A Browning 9mm pistol with two rounds of ammunition was also seized in the incident, the police said.
According to police reports, Robinson was also reporting on bail for a previous charge of robbery with aggravation and would have returned to court in September.
The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Enquiries (INDECOM) are investigating, the police said.
