Jamaica records 127 new COVID-19 cases, two more deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica on Friday recorded 127 new cases of COVID-19 and two more virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases to 146,241 and the death toll to 3,193.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 74 females and 53 males — with ages ranging from 83 days to 108 years.
The new cases were recorded in St James (11), Kingston and St Andrew (46), St Ann (four), Westmoreland (two), Clarendon (12), St Catherine (35), Manchester (10), St Elizabeth (three), Trelawny (two) and St Thomas (two)
Hanover, St Mary and Portland recorded no new cases.
The latest fatalities are:
1. A 69-year-old male from St Catherine who died in February 2021
2. A 67-year-old male from St Catherine who died in March 2021
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country also recorded 101 recoveries, for a total of 93,738.
There are 1,342 active cases of COVID-19 on the island.
The positivity rate for the latest round of testing now stands at 21.8 per cent.
Currently, 100 people are hospitalised with four being critically ill.
