Legit Boss, Volatility rekindle the memories for Anthony Nunes
It was a rekindling of the memories for champion trainer Anthony Nunes following the win by the Casual Trick bay filly, Legit Boss, out of the Fearless Vision filly Bilingual, in the first juvenile start this season. That event was the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission/Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association Juvenile Dash over 600 metres at Caymanas Park, on Monday, August 1, 2022. In addition, another Nunes charge Volatility completed a one-two finish for the conditioner.
“A victory is exceptionally pleasing, especially with the ‘babies’, I love to rehearse, for they are the future of racing and I am so happy that all my three ‘babies’ ran well. Yes, they (Legit Boss and Volatility) came in one-two, but there was a little colt, Milos in the race who is not as forward as the rest who ran fifth, but I watched him at the end of the race, and he was doing some good work so I was pleased with him as well.
“For the first two that ran one-two, you know what was enlightening about it all, I trained both of their mothers in their Classic escapades. I trained Bilingual and Fashionista, two worthy fillies. Bilingual lost the Guineas and also the Oaks to two great fillies, one of which was the great She’s A Maneater, who defeated her in the Guineas with Marlene My Love defeating her for top honours in the Oaks.
“Bilingual had quality, a really a nice filly who was beaten by exceptional ones as in any other year she would have won the Guineas for she is nicely bred out of Electrifying. This filly (Legit Boss) is a pretty little horse and so, too, is Volatility. I couldn’t be any happier. The riders Dick (Cardenas) and Tevin (Foster) rode them well. The staff did a great job with them, bringing them to this point, but more significantly, I am unquestionably happy and thankful for the quality sponsorship put on by the BG&L [Betting Gaming & Lotteries Commission] to put on such a race along with the Breeders’ Association and a lovely purse to go along with it,” trainer Nunes said.
Legit Boss, ridden by Cardenas was sent off as a 3/1 shot, won the event by 1 1/2 lengths while posting a time of 35.1 seconds built on a first split fraction of 22.4 seconds. Legit Boss was followed home by Volatility with odds-on favourite Thalita third.
