LAST BID A WINNER AFTER EQUIPMENT CHANGE
Last Bid, running with the blinkers on for the first time in five career starts, easily defeated rivals in the $1.2-m Licensing and Registration Division Trophy, a maiden special weight event for native-bred three-year-olds travelling 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
After an even start for most runners, Keturah (Raddesh Roman) circled runners going into the half-mile (800m) just ahead of Last Bid (Reyan Lewis) with Joe (Shane Ellis) and Ophelia’s Mom (Shavon Townsend) chasing. Approaching the distance, Keturah continued to lead just ahead of Joe on the outside of the railing running, Last Bid who produced her run in deep stretch, and won going away in the end. Trained by Gary Griffiths, Last Bid (Soul Warrior – Circle The Heart) was 5 lengths ahead of GT Boy (Tevin Foster) and Joe at the wire and completed this distance in a time of 1:08.2.
SIR JOHN HOLDS ON
Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Christopher Mamdeen, Sir John was just able to hold to nip Unruly Boss to win the $950,000 Jamaica 60 Trophy over one mile (1,600m).
It was a good break for Sir John on the inside rails as the bay colt sat in second behind Daddy Jones (Jordan Barrett) passing the intersection at the 7-furlong (1,400m) marker. Sir John then picked up the running leaving the 6 furlongs (1,200m) before surrendering the lead to Daddy Jones going into the half-mile turn.
Mamdeen hustled up his mount approaching the distance and Sir John regained the lead coming into the lane. After getting rid of Daddy Jones, Sir John had to then battle the challenge from Unruly Boss (Anthony Thomas) in deep stretch.
Sir John won the four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of four) contest by a head at the wire ahead of Unruly Boss. Daddy Jones finished third. The final time was 1:39.2.
ULTIMATUM IN ONE SHAKE
Five-year-old bay mare Ultimatum led from start to finish in the $860,000 Commissioner’s Cup Restricted Allowance, a five-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) at four furlongs (800m)
Jockey Anthony Thomas put the Tensang Chung-conditioned Ultimatum (Shackleford – Urgent Appeal) in front at the off and the bay mare held the lead ahead of Buzz Assault (Odeen Edwards), Silverstine (Matthew Bennett) and Awesome Boy (Hakeem Pottinger).
Passing the dummy rails, Ultimatum began to draw away from rivals and eventually went on to win easily by 3 ¾ lengths in a time of 49.1. Finishing second was Silverstine with Julissa P, the mount of Roger Hewitt third. Qurandero (Jerome Innis) went by the post in second place but was later disqualified and placed out of the frame for causing interference to Hunter’s Ridge.
DENNIS THWAITES GOOD FORM CONTINUES

Ridden by apprentice Romario Spencer, Stanislaus broke well and disputed the early splits with Commissioner (Javaniel Patterson), Blu Attitude (Dick Cardenas), and Speechless, ridden by Omar Walker. Commissioner emerged as the lone leader as Stanislaus raced strongly behind with Blu Attitude and Speechless.
Entering the last furlong (200m), Stanislaus surged through to the front and held on at the wire to win the event by half-length ahead of the fast-finishing Sweet Surprise (Raddesh Roman). Blu Attitude finished in third place with the final recorded at 1:01.4.
