136 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness on Monday, August 15, reported 136 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths, bringing the infection total to 148,184 and total deaths to 3,224.
The new cases comprise 78 females and 58 males, with ages ranging from four months to 108 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (46), St Catherine (36), Trelawny and Manchester (two), Westmoreland and St Thomas (seven), Clarendon (six), St James (13), St Ann (10), St Elizabeth (four) and Hanover (three).
Portland and St Mary did not report any new cases of COVID-19.
The deceased are:
1. A 70-year-old male from St Catherine who died in September 2021
2. A 48-year-old female from St Catherine who died in June 2022 and
3. A 75-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew who died in August 2022.
There were 73 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 95,147.
Currently, 118 people are hospitalised, 17 of whom are moderately ill, three severely ill and two critically ill.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 26.7 per cent.
