Power Ranking the one to beat in Sunday’s O&S Tack Room Trophy

The three-year-old and upwards non-winners of four call for locally bred three and four-year-olds horses and for foreigners – three-year-olds and upwards non-winners of three, to be contested for the O&S Tack Room Trophy is the highlight on the 10-race programme of Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Caymanas Park.

Seven runners face the starter in the 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) event, which carries a total purse of $1.05 million.

Below is the analysis of those seven runners done in draw order.

1. YELLOWSTONE: (3 ch g by Sensational Slam – Awry) – Returns from a 50-day break after finishing second to Emperorofthecats over 5 1/2 on July 9. This gelding has speed and will go to the lead when the gates open. The only occasion that Yellowstone has raced longer than 5 1/2 furlongs was in the one-mile 2000 Guineas when he ended up in eighth place. Seems to be a sprinter, who despite some noted gallops at exercise, might find 6 1/2 furlong a trifle long. Note, Yellowstone races with the figure eight 0n.

2. AWESOME RICH: (3 b c by Northern Giant – Awesome Camille) – Off the board in his last two outings and it should be the same in this contest for Awesome Rich.

3. BUZZ CITY LIGHT: (3 b c by Buzz Nightmare – Forced On Me) – Lightly raced colt who chased home Emperorofthecats over the straight on August 1. Buzz City Light also goes well on the round course and with the champion jockey aboard is poised for a winning run.

4. LUKSOL (USA): (3 b f by Tapiture – Stunning Taste) – This foreigner has no recent form to boost her chances of winning. Should, however, find a place on the board.

5. POWER RANKING: (3 b c by Casual Trick – Escandalosa) – Just caught on the wire by stablemate Perfect Brew over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) eight days ago. With the distance reduced, Power Ranking will have to be caught and anyone doing so will surely win.

6. BERNING RED: (3 ch c by Bern Identity – Feasibility Study) – Should have won on last in claiming company but finished third behind Baton Rouge and Special Counsel. Berning Red, based on that run, cannot be fancied for a winning effort.

7. THIRTYONEKISSES: (3 b f by Savoy Stomp – Shahar) – Is going to be left behind.
