We are doing our best
Dear Editor,
I write in reference to the article titled, ‘We want it back’ published in the Jamaica Observer Western on August 11, 2022.
The Post and Telecommunications Department regrets the inconvenience being experienced by the customers affected by the temporary relocation of the Wakefield Post Office in Trelawny.
The closure of the rented building which housed the operations of the Wakefield Post Office was in keeping with the recommendations of the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA). This was based on their assessment of the structure in 2019. Since the closure of the building, the operations of the post office were relocated to the Hampden Post Office, Bounty Hall, Trelawny.
As the department continues its modernisation efforts, working closely with all stakeholders and accessibility to postal services remains paramount. Further, the department is resolute in its efforts to upgrade several of its locations islandwide in order to provide modern facilities and additional services with a more comfortable experience for both customers and staff alike. To this end, the department is currently in the process of identifying a suitable alternative to return the operations of the postal service to the Wakefield community and craves the indulgence of its stakeholders.
The Post and Telecommunications Department wishes to thank its customers for their continued support.
