109 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 109 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Thursday, August 25, bringing the infection total to 149,327.
The new cases comprise 57 females and 52 males, with ages ranging from zero days to 96 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (38), St Ann (17), St Catherine (11), St James (nine), Manchester (nine), Clarendon (eight), St Mary (six), Hanover (four), St Thomas (three), St Elizabeth (two) and Westmorland (two).
Two deaths were recorded for the period. They are an 81-year-old female from St Mary and an 84-year-old from St Catherine. Both incidents were under investigation.
There were 61 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 96,159.
Currently, 111 people are hospitalised, 24 of whom are moderately ill, five are severely ill and four in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 22.8 per cent.
