93 new COVID19 cases, nine deaths reported in last 24 hours
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 93 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Friday, August 26, bringing the infection total to 149,420.
The new cases comprise 56 females and 37 males, with ages ranging from one day to 108 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (27), St Ann (seven), St Catherine (23), St James (eight), Manchester (11), Clarendon and St Thomas (three), Hanover, Westmoreland and St Elizabeth (two), and Trelawny (five).
St Mary and Portland did not report any new cases of the virus.
Nine deaths were recorded for the period bringing the death toll to 3,250.
The deceased are:
1. A 77-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in August 2021
2. A 63-year-old male from St Mary who died in August 2021
3. A 57-year-old female from Westmoreland who died in August 2022
4. A 72-year-old male from St Elizabeth who died in August 2022
5. An 88-year-old female from Westmoreland who died in August 2022
6. A 93-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in August 2022
7. An 84-year-old female from St Elizabeth who died in August 2022
8. A 68-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in July 2022 and,
9. A 63-year-old male from Westmoreland who died in July 2022.
There were 104 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 96,263.
Currently, 104 people are hospitalised, 18 of whom are moderately ill, four are severely ill and five in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing was 23.4 per cent.
