49 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths reported
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 49 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on Monday, August 29, bringing the infection total to 149,763.
The new cases comprise 23 females and 26 males, with ages ranging from 3 years to 91 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (12), Manchester (seven), Westmoreland (seven), St James (six), Clarendon (four), St Mary (three), St Elizabeth (three), Trelawny (three), St Catherine (two) and Portland (two).
Two deaths were recorded for the period.
The deceased are a 74-year-old male from Portland and an 80-year-old male from St Mary.
There were 87 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 96,514.
Currently, 133 people are hospitalised, 24 of whom are moderately ill, eight severely ill and five in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 16.8 per cent.
