D&G Foundation extends deadline for ‘6 for 60’ competition entries
COMMUNITY-based groups now have until September 9 to submit entries to the Desnoes and Geddes (D&G) Foundation’s ‘6 for 60’ competition to vie for a share of $6 million in funding for community development initiatives.
The competition, which is part of Red Stripe’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, will award two entries from each county a $1-million grant for sports, environmental conservation, education and cultural projects.
To be considered eligible for 6 for 60 funding, all projects must have started at least three months before the entry date. Entries should also show the project’s progress in the respective communities and explain how the prize money can be utilised to improve results by the end of 2022.
“We took the inspiration for 6 for 60 from the Diamond Jubilee theme ‘Reigniting a Nation for Greatness’. With this initiative we are highlighting and supporting people and groups who are reigniting or building greatness within their communities through philanthropic work. Jamaicans in every community dedicate their time, effort, and funds to uplift their neighbourhoods. By offering gifts of $1 million to six standout projects we will help them maximise the impact of their programmes,” noted head of corporate affairs for Red Stripe and director of the D&G Foundation, Dianne Ashton-Smith.
She continued, “With the extension of this deadline, even more groups and individuals will have a chance to apply to the competition. I encourage as many persons as possible to enter; you may just be one of the chosen ones.”
All 6 for 60 submissions must be made by midnight on September 9, 2022 via the official website at https://bit.ly/6for60Competition. Entrants will be asked to provide their names, contact information, location, information about their community projects, and photos or a video to show the project’s current status.
From October 3-7, 2022 the public will be invited to vote on the top four entries from each county via Red Stripe’s corporate social media pages @RedStripeCorporate. The six winners of the 6 for 60 competition will be announced on National Heroes’ Day on October 14.
